Maxine Blair-Quamina - Front Desk Coordinator

Maxine was born in Cleveland and raised in Piqua, Ohio.  She graduated from Piqua High School and received an Associate degree from Edison State Community College.  Maxine returned to Cleveland and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Cleveland State University.  Maxine also received her Masters of Education in Community Agency Counseling from CSU in 2001.  In her spare time, she enjoys shopping, reading and working out.  Maxine joined the Department of Orthodontics in January 2008.

Tashena Campbell- Dental Assistant

Tashena was born in Elyria, Ohio and attended high school there.  She attended Remington College for Dental Assisting and graduated in 2007. She started her orthodontic training in this department in 2008. Tashena hopes to continue her education in preparation of applying to dental hygiene school.

Melanie McMichael - Departmental Executive Assistant

Melanie McMichael was born in Cleveland Ohio and attended Beaumont High School and Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.  During her time at O.U., Melanie was active in both campus and local theater and music, performing regularly.

Melanie currently lives in Lakewood, with her two adopted rescue dogs, Baxter and Bailey.  She enjoys singing, writing, and spending time with friends.  She also enjoys volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and New Life Community, transitional housing for homeless families.  Recently she began taking classes again in order to earn her Master’s Degree in Organizational Management which she hopes to aid her in the building of a meeting and event planning company. 

Shirley Neumann – Business/Finance Manager

Shirley Neumann was born in Chicago.  She has been working in orthodontic offices since 1989.  She is currently the office manager in Dr. Mark Hans’ private practice office in Berea, Ohio. She joined the Department of Orthodontics in September of 2000.

Tina Nicholl - Lead Dental Assistant/Ordering Manager

Tina was born and raised in Cleveland and graduated from Garfield Hts., High School in 2003, as well as the Cuyahoga Valley Career School for dental Assisting. Tina joined the Orthodontic Department in September of 2005.

LaVerne Vogel – Department Secretary

LaVerne Carol Vogel was born in Cleveland, Ohio, graduated from South High School and attended classes at Fenn College and Dyke Business School.  Her husband’s work took them to Chicago where she served as secretary to the head of the International Department of the Cooperative League of the USA.  They moved to New Jersey where she was secretary to the President of International Marine Products, Inc.  The Vogels returned to Cleveland in 1987 to reside in Lakewood. 

Mrs. Vogel came to the CWRU School of Dentistry in 1988 as a temp. in the Departments of Oral Surgery, then Pediatric Dentistry.   She became a full time employee, working for the former Assistant Dean for Administration.  Following a major change in administration, she was moved to the dental school’s Admissions Office in 1989.  She transferred to the Department of Orthodontics in December of 1989 as secretary to Dr. Mark Hans, the department chair.
