Shirley Neumann – Business/Finance Manager

Shirley Neumann was born in Chicago.  She has been working in orthodontic offices since 1989.  She is currently the office manager in Dr. Mark Hans’ private practice office in Berea, Ohio. She joined the Department of Orthodontics in September of 2000.

Tina Nicholl - Dental Assistant/Ordering Manager

Tina Nicholl was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio.  She graduated from Garfield Heights High School in 2003.   At Cuyahoga Valley Career Center, she studied dental assisting for two years.  She became an employee at the Case School of Dental Medicine in September of 2005.  Tina plans to enroll in the EFDA Program at Case in 2008.

LaVerne Vogel – Department Secretary

LaVerne Carol Vogel was born in Cleveland, Ohio, graduated from South High School and attended classes at Fenn College and Dyke Business School.  Her husband’s work took them to Chicago where she served as secretary to the head of the International Department of the Cooperative League of the USA.  They moved to New Jersey where she was secretary to the President of International Marine Products, Inc.  The Vogels returned to Cleveland in 1987 to reside in Lakewood. 

Mrs. Vogel came to the CWRU School of Dentistry in 1988 as a temp. in the Departments of Oral Surgery, then Pediatric Dentistry.   She became a full time employee, working for the former Assistant Dean for Administration.  Following a major change in administration, she was moved to the dental school’s Admissions Office in 1989.  She transferred to the Department of Orthodontics in December of 1989 as secretary to Dr. Mark Hans, the department chair.

Aleks Zivkovic – Dental Assistant

Aleks Zivkovic was born in Parma, Ohio.  He graduated from North Royalton High School and Cuyahoga Valley Career Center in the Dental Assisting Program in 2007.  Aleks participated in football and wrestling in high school and in his senior year, he was a candidate for national president of the high school leadership program, Skills USA.  He also placed third in the State of Ohio in the Dental Assisting Competition.   In his junior and senior years, Aleks volunteered his time helping feed the homeless at St. Herman’s Tooth Fairy Week for Kids.  He taught proper oral hygiene and Relay for Life.  Through his vocational school, Aleks did an internship at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine.  Aleks worked for Dr. Richard Arnstine, an orthodontic instructor, for four months and then he was offered a position in the Department of Orthodontics.  Aleks plans to enter dental school and from there he wants to go on to become an orthodontist.
